This experience has taught me not to feel guilt for chronic pain. I learned I don’t have to do everything I expect of myself in one day. I understand now that I can have limits and, if I set them and stick to them, I can do the things I really want without too much pain the next day.
I have also learned how to manage pain with my mind to get relief. Most important for me is, I got out of bed and started living again! Some challenges weren’t easy but, I set goals and, by the end of my sessions, I had accomplished them all!
My pain had me in a depressed, guilt ridden cycle that was getting me nowhere! Now I have tools to recognize and manage those thoughts when I feel them coming back!
